Displaying the beauty of subak, the traditional rice terrace irrigation system in Bali. One of the subaks frequently visited by tourists is located in the village of Jatiluwih. Red Bali rice is a local rice variety cultivated in Jatiluwih Subak, which is one of the factors contributing to its UNESCO cultural heritage status.
Jatiluwih village, situated in the Penebel District, Tabanan Regency, is a major producer of red rice, and its product has penetrated the international market. Not using pesticides and artificial colors, the aroma, color, and taste of Jatiluwih red rice are distinctive, making it a flagship product. The red rice planting season is from December to January, while July, known as the gadu season, sees farmers planting hybrid rice.
